Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and celebrity divorces shaped 2024 mainstream culture.

Thank God we're making it to the end of 2023, even though we're crawling. This year was filled with a lot—too much, really! We,

two self-described pop-culture experts, have recollected it all, from Beyoncé and Taylor Swift controlling our lives to discussions about NFL safety,

labor strikes, celebrity divorces, and endless court appearances (who knew Gwyneth Paltrow and Young Thug would have something in common this year?).

So assemble, my fellow aficionados of culture. For better or worse, these are the things that shaped pop culture in this year.

We haven't witnessed a theatrical production like this since Tony Stark's death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (sorry,

no spoilers here). Two of the most anticipated movies of 2023, "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer,"

" debuted on the same summer weekend. Warner Bros., whose parent company Warner Bros. Discovery is owned by CNN, released "Barbie."

Indeed, that Ilkay Gundogan embraced the spotlight once again is of little surprise.
