Some historic relics from the family of our nation's first president are moving to a new location in Shelby County. 

 Originally from Montevallo, this historic collection documents the relocation of George Washington's family to American Village. 

 American Village in Montevallo will house art and artifacts from the Karl C. 

 Harrison Museum of George Washington in Columbiana, according to a news release. 

 President George Washington's family's paintings, letters, furniture, porcelain, glassware, silver, jewelry, busts, and more are in the colonial to 1865 collection. 

 I'm thrilled to have my family's Washington family heirlooms, passed down from generation to generation, relocate to American Village. 

 "Our family wanted the collection to stay in Shelby County, and American Village is the best steward," said Helen Harrison Phillips, Karl C. Harrison's daughter. 

 The east wing of Independence Hall, under construction at American Village, will hold the collection and open on July 4, 2026.
