In an exclusive interview with NBC's "TODAY" on Tuesday, Olympic figure skater Gracie Gold discussed her own issues with mental health and figure skating.

After winning her first U.S. Figure Skating Championship in 2014 and making the Sochi Winter Olympics squad

Gold began to feel the pressures of elite figure skating.

"It wasn't 'palatable' is the word that they used for the world and specifically the skating community," Gold said on "TODAY" Tuesday.

"We don't talk about those things out loud, but it wasn't rumor or hearsay to me.

This was my story. I was in rehab in Arizona in the middle of a season, and I believed an honest response was warranted.
